Eunice Brinson, 103 years young, entered into Eternal Life with her Savior, Jesus Christ, in Heaven on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 after a LONG and FULL LIFE. She was a beautiful, loving, caring and godly woman who was loved by all who knew her. Eunice was a TRUE child of God that loved the LORD and her family and set an example for ALL of US. Eunice was a classy dresser some called her, “Hollywood, DIVA and Mary J” she loved her hats and ALWAYS dressed to impress. She will be DEEPLY missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and only great-great-grandson who took care of her every visit when he came to town.
Eunice was born September 6, 1919 in Davisboro, Georgia to the late Samuel and Mamie (Warthen) Fort and child of Joseph Johnson. She was educated in the Pine Hill School System in Washington County, Georgia.
Eunice loved her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, with all her heart, and loved God’s word. She accepted Christ at an early age and attended Little Pine Hill Methodist Church in Davisboro, Georgia where she sang in the choir. “They called her the little singing girl”. Eunice was a powerful prayer warrior, and only heaven knows what a wonderful and eternal impact ALL her many years of faithful praying has had on her family and friends. Her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 23. She was a faithful and devoted member of United Baptist Church for 70 plus years. She was a faithful servant to God’s ministry being involved on many committees…Senior Usher Board, Mission Society, and Repast Committee until her illness prevented her from coming to church. Eunice was the oldest living member at United Baptist Church.
Eunice retired from Mechanical Industries as a Welder and Trainer after being a faithful employee for 25 years. After her retirement she decided to go back to work. She worked as a housekeeper for several families. Last working for the Honroth family, who was not only her employer but a loving and caring family friend.
Eunice married the love of her life, the late JK Brinson Sr., on July 18, 1937 and was married for 51 years. To this union five children were born: JK Sr., Connie (Brinson) Mitchell, William, Gregory, and Anthony.
Eunice was an avid Cleveland Guardian baseball fan, gardener, bowler, and loved, loved, loved, loved going fishing with her fishing buddies to Fremont, Sandusky, and every fishing hole in Akron. If the fish were biting, we wouldn’t see her for days. She wasn’t leaving unless her coolers were filled to capacity. We NEVER had to buy fish for family reunions or a family fish fry. Last summer she went on three fishing outings with her children and yes, she out fished all of them.
She was an awesome cook with numerous specialty dishes…WE LOVED her collard greens (LAWD have Mercy), sweet potato pies, German chocolate cake, pineapple cake, coconut pie, dressing, Jell-O- fruit salad, hot water cornbread and we can’t forget the boiled peanuts. YUM!
