Eura Dale Covington, Sr. was born on September 23, 1964 in Hope Arkansas to Eura Lee Covington and Frances D. Lee.  He was the second of three siblings.  He graduated from Hope High School with the class of 1982.  After high school he attended Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas and graduated from Stark State College with a Bachelor degree in Business and Administration. 

“Dale” as he was so lovingly called by his family and friends, worked for the City of Akron for 15 years as a School Crossing Guard.  In the City of Hope, Arkansas he worked as a Fireman and Correction Officer.  He had numerous of other jobs as well as his own landscaping business.  But the one job which was near and dear to his heart was coaching.  He coached at North High School in Akron, Ohio and AAU basketball in Arkansas.  He even helped coached Mike Conley of the Minnesota Timberwolves. 

He was a jack of all trades and never met a stranger.  If he could help you, he would especially the children. 

He belonged to the Silver Moon Masonic Lodge #15 in Washington, Arkansas until his health started failing a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and longtime member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Arkansas until he relocated to Akron, Ohio he was faithful member for twenty plus years at St. Paul A.M.E. Church.  He sang in the Men’s Choir, served on the Steward Board helped with activities for children at the church.  Also, he assisted Mrs. Knox with the children at EACH after school program. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eura Lee Covington and Frances D. Lee; siblings, Teresa Covington and Donald Covington.  He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 35 years, Hiawatha Covington; four children, Eura Dale (Yadira) Covington, Jr.; Donta’ Covington (Kay Jreonna Winters); Shawatha (Blair) Harris; Pershawna (Eric)

Garrett; siblings, Larry (Betty) Covington; Yarcus (Talona) Lewis; Roslyn (Kenneth) James; aunts, Mary Faye McPherson of Oklahoma and Doris Turner of Georgia; goddaughters, Yasmine Lee Matthews and Ashley Johnson; 14 grandchildren and a host of nieces nephews and cousins.
