Evangelist Velma L Stone (Bushner) went home to be with the Lord at her residence while praising the Lord September 29, 2020. She was born in Akron, Ohio June 21, 1930, to the late Homer & Pearlie Hubbard Williams.
She was a graduate of Central Howard High School. She was employed at Broadview Hospital working with the mentally disabled until retirement. She continued her work in the healthcare industry as a Home Health Aide, volunteering for many organizations.
She was the loving mother of eight children, whom she loved. She provided for them all and they never went without a meal or clothes on their backs. She worked two jobs so her children would have a roof over their heads. She was a comforter, a great listener, and a praying mother
At an early age, she was baptized and accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and became a member of the Livingstone Apostolic Church of Akron, Ohio under the leadership of the late Elder James Gregory. After the death of her daughter, she became a member of First Apostolic Faith Church of Akron, Ohio under the leadership of Bishop Samuel Hampton Sr. She continued to be mentored under Pastor Hampton after Bishop passed the torch to his son. During her fellowship at First Apostolic Faith Church, she served as an Evangelist, advocate Sunday School teacher, prayer and praise warrior, she worked in the kitchen and served on the usher board for many many years faithfully. She was a trusted servant of God and she enjoyed serving in any compacity where needed. She fed the homeless out of her home while trusting that the Lord would provide. She also enjoyed studying the Word of God and fellowshipping with the saints. Her favorite hobbies were cooking, crossword puzzles, watching wrestling, and going out to eat.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Pearlie Hubbard Williams, husband Burt Stone; sister, Cleazeal Rogers; brothers, Curtis Williams, Raymond Williams, Kelly Williams Warren, Ohio; daughter, Renitta P. Bushner; son-in-law, Colvin Bibbs; grandson, David L. Bushner Jr.
She leaves to mourn her brother, Omar Williams; sons, David L. Bushner, Richard L Bushner; daughters, Alicia (Bernard) Lewis, Arlina Fay (Larry) Ivery, Arlene Kay Bibbs, Sharon Bushner, Juanita (Woody) Wilson; 13 grandchildren; special friends, Dorothy (Wheeler) Vandiver and Louise Johnston, and a host of great-grandchildren nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
