Evelyn Marie Higgenbottom passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018.

Evelyn was born on August 10, 1953, in Norton, Virginia to the late Daniel and Elise Pope.

She attended North High School and was a member of Christ First Church center for several years where she accepted Christ as her Personal Lord and Savior.  Later, she joined and attended City of Joy Enrichment center along with her family where she worshiped for the past few years.  She loved to attend church and always had a smile on her face and looked forward to attending each Sunday.  Evelyn was a homemaker, mom and most importantly a child of God.  She worked as caregiver for several years providing care to both the young and the elderly.  She would give anyone the shirt off her back and anything else she had and someone else needed it.

Evelyn loved playing bingo and the lottery.  She played the lottery daily and could almost predict what numbers were coming out in the days ahead.

Evelyn is proceeded in death by her parents Daniel and Elise Pope; grandparents Tom and Evelyn Harrison; uncle and aunt Robert and Bessie Curley; nephews, Emory (Junebug) Grimes and Leonta Hobdy; niece Cynthia Marie Pope.

Evelyn is survived by her sons Jeffery Pope and Curtis Higginbottom; significant other Larry Davis; step-daughters Curley Washington, Linda Jones, Sherrilyn Higginbottom-Mahiri;  grandchildren Ashley Pope, Malika Higginbottom, Rayshawn Higginbottome; siblings Claudette Grimes, Tommy (Judy) Pope, Anna (Curtis) Neal, Cassie (Selby) McGowan, Danny Pope, Terry (Dionne) Pope, Cynthia Hobdy;  nieces and nephews, Anthony (Anish) Grimes, Michelle Pope, Cassundra (Eran) Washington, Rochelle Powell, Shelly (Reuben) Woodruff, Dashawn (Cedric) Rivers, Michael (her boy) (Gwendolyn) Grimes, Daniel (Marrona) Calhoun, Tomika Pope and Stephanie Pope;  Special family and friends Trevin Powell, Amelia Gaiter, Elinore, Shelia Varner, Sharon Smith, Jill Swain.  A host of great nieces, great nephews, family and friends.
