Celebrating the Life of Fannie Louise Williams

Mrs. Fannie Louise Williams entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 2:46 a.m., at the age of 82. Though her earthly journey has come to an end, the love she shared and the memories she created will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Born on March 26, 1944, in Sawyerville, Alabama, Fannie was the beloved daughter of the late Curtis Lee Winn and Lula Winn. She was raised with strong values of faith, hard work, and kindness—qualities that remained evident throughout every season of her life. Later, she made Cleveland, Ohio, her home, where she built a life centered on family, friendship, and service to others.

At an early age, Fannie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with New Hope Baptist Church, where she cultivated a lifelong relationship with God. Her faith was the foundation upon which she lived, offering strength, comfort, and guidance through life’s many joys and challenges.

A proud high school graduate, Fannie devoted herself to a life of honest work and service. She held numerous positions throughout her career, earning the admiration and respect of those who worked alongside her. She ultimately retired from the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center, where she faithfully served as a cashier. Known for her warm smile, gentle spirit, and welcoming personality, Fannie brightened the days of countless veterans, visitors, and coworkers alike.

Fannie was united in holy matrimony to Robert Williams, with whom she shared many cherished years until his passing. Their love and devotion remain a lasting part of her beautiful legacy. The couple was blessed with no children, but Fannie poured her love generously into her extended family and those fortunate enough to know her.

Beyond her career, Fannie embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. She loved spending time at the bowling alley and rarely missed an opportunity to enjoy the soulful sounds of the blues. Among her favorite artists were the legendary Albert King and B.B. King, whose music often filled her home and lifted her spirit. Her laughter, kindness, and genuine concern for others made her a treasured presence wherever she went.

Fannie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Williams, and her sisters, Cora “Fred” and Maggie “Charles.”

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her devoted nieces, Cheryl Tarrance-Somerville, (Sam) and Michelle Somerville (Chaz), , along with her beloved nieces and nephews Sheena, Chauncey, Chanard, Brandy, and Shayla; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; sisters-in-law; extended family members; dear friends; and a host of loved ones who will forever treasure the love, wisdom, and kindness she so freely shared.

Although our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that Fannie’s life was one of purpose, compassion, and unwavering faith. Her legacy lives on through every life she touched, every smile she shared, and every act of kindness she extended. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered forever.
