Flora M. Thomas, affectionately known as Flo, was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on her mother’s thirty-seventh birthday, August 21, 1944. Pinkie and Harry Thomas were the proud parents of this beautiful baby girl after having seventeen years of marriage.
Flora loss her dad at the tender age of three years old. She and her mother moved to Bessemer, Alabama, where she would attend grade school. Her mother passed away when she turned twelve. Upon her mother’s passing, Flora had become an orphan and had to relocate to Akron, Ohio in 1958. She attended South High School and graduated class of 1962.
Flora had a spiritual growth and was baptized as a Baptist Christian prior to being relocated to Akron, Ohio. She served on the Nurses’ Guild at The United Baptist Church before becoming a member at The Second Baptist Church.
She decided to become an Environmental Technician and retired from Akron General Medical Center in 2005 after 15 years of service.
Flora gave birth to three children: two sons and one daughter. She enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, watching movies, traveling, going to the park, taking small walks and gardening. She kept up with her favorite activities up until she fell ill.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry Thomas and Pinkie   Campbell-Thomas; and special cousins, William Caver Sr. and Goldie Matthews.

Flora leaves to cherish her memory to her sons, Raymond V. Thomas and Spencer S. Thomas; daughter, Charisse (Oscar) Thomas-Burney; grandchildren, Chelarisse Loftin and Flora Loftin; great-granddaughter, Fayola Charisse Loftin-Osby; special sisters/cousins, Annie Love and Mary Burney; as well as a host of family and friends.
