Frank Horace Tate III, aka Just Tate, was born December 7, 1953, in Beloit, Alabama, to Frank Tate Jr. and Omega Tate. He was the brother of Pamela Tate, Greg Tate, and Darrel Tate.

Frank was raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and was a graduate of Glenville High School, C/O 1972.

At Frank’s tender age of 5, Omega called her youngest sister Mildred Young to assist with watching Frank while she worked and went to school. Mildred happily stepped up and helped raise Frank along with her children, who grew up to be more than cousins but siblings: Bridget Johnson, Annette Young, Thedora Young, and Robert Young.

At a very young age, Frank decided to get baptized and give his life to Christ by Rev. William Brown at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, where he continued to tithe until his untimely death.

At a young age, Frank worked a host of jobs. He was the manager of the McDonald’s at 105 & St. Clair. Frank was also the top salesman at Paradise Jewelry, then went on to open a gas station in East Cleveland, but his love for numbers is what changed the game for him. Frank was well known for orchestrating and attending card parties. His favorite card games were spades and poker, but whatever you were playing that day was what he was playing, and 10 times out of 10, you were going to lose your money playing against him!

In 1979, Frank met his future wife, Linda, and in 1982, changed her name from Ms. Linda Wilson to Mrs. Linda Tate. Soon afterward, their love child, Frank Kashmere Tate IV, was born.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Frank and Omega Tate, his daughter A’Rika Collins-Coleman, and his sister, Pamela Tate.

Frank transitioned at home peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2025.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Tate; children Frank Tate IV, Jarrell McGhee, Dominic Ferritto; daughter-in-law, Ariane M. Ferguson; and a host of grandchildren: Jace Tate, Adonis Tate, Kashius Tate, R.J. Cartier, Leilani Kaji, Dominic Darel, and Brionna.

He is also survived by brothers Greg and Darrel Tate, nieces Latanya, Eron and Monique, Nephew Anthony and a host of other family members and friends.
