Fred Allen McMichael was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 27, 1951, to his late parents Lilly Bell and Marion McMichael Sr. He was the 6th of 7 children raised in a loving, Christian home.
Fred attended John Hay High School in Cleveland where he met the love of his life, Carol. While watching a movie in the school auditorium, he turned to his left and said to Carol “I’m gonna marry you some day”. They dated for 6 years until their marriage in 1973. From this union, two wonderful children were born, Melanie Carol and Marcus Allen.
In 1970, Fred graduated from high school. During and shortly after this time, Fred worked for Western Electric. Later, Fred graduated from Truck Driving School and became a professional truck driver. Over a 40 plus year career, he excelled in his profession at several companies and became a senior driver until his retirement in April of 2020.
Fred’s faith and family was very important to him. He accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Beth-El A.M.E Zion Church during his early years. During this time, he was also a member of the church basketball team. Afterwards, he attended his wife’s church where he later became a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church. Fred instilled his faith and values into his two children who also became members.
Fred was the ever-present Dad. He was a hero to a little girl, going on walks while pushing her pink doll stroller along side of her and patiently picking up acorns for a project. He was a role model for a little boy, teaching him to ride a bike and shoot a basketball. He continued to be a fun, positive, loving influence each day of his life and instilled knowledge and values that will stay with them for a lifetime. While being a great Dad, Fred exemplified the very definition
of a “Husband”. He loved and treated his wife so delicately and passionately, that it raised the bar for all other husbands. Fred was adored by his wife Carol who cherished their marriage, which lasted 49 years: one year shy of the “Golden Anniversary”. Fred started each day with a kiss and an “I love you”, which transitioned into “I STILL love you”, until his sunset on February 10, 2022. He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife Carol McMichael, two loving and grateful children, a daughter Melanie Carol McMichael, and a son Marcus Allen McMichael (Camille). He also leaves to mourn, six brothers and sisters, Eartha Elridge (deceased) (John Jr.), Evelyn Love (Bernard, deceased), Mary Ann Wade (Donald), Marion McMichael Jr., Calvin McMichael (Rosetia), and Lawrence McMichael; as well as five brothers and sisters by marriage, James Price (Eloise) (both deceased), Delores Price, Randall Price (Shirley), Donald Price, and Doris Price (deceased); and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
