Freda Kaye Nicholson, 61 went home to be with the Lord suddenly on February 16, 2024. Freda was born in Akron, Ohio to Thelma Williams and the late Frank W. Nicholson. She had a smile that could light the heavens and a personality more precious than silver and gold. This beautiful soul will truly be missed. When you know the Lord, and she did, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Freda gave her life to the Lord at an early age and was a member at the Word Church.
Freda attended and graduated from Central-Hower High School where she served on executive student council and as a flag girl. Freda attended Bowling Green State University and later attended The University of Akron where she earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Respiratory Care in 1994. She became registered in 2007 serving as a Respiratory Therapist for 30 years. In 1988 she married William Harrison, and three children came from that union. Freda was preceded in death by her father Frank W. Nicholson, Grandmother Ida Marie Nicholson, Grandfather, James Blackwell and Grandmother, Lucy Kate Blackwell and very special cousin Martha Vera Gould and Stepfather, Eddie Williams. She is survived by mother, Thelma Williams, son Justin (Brigid) Harrison, daughters, Jillian Harrison and Jourdon Harrison, grandchildren, Izaiah Harrison, Damien Harrison, Charlize Rachel, Gabrielle Harrison, Anna Harrison, Donovon Harrison, Edynn Harrison and Jacqueline Harrison. She is also survived by four siblings, Frank Nicholson, Felecia Douglas, Faye Nicholson and Fedearia (David) Sweval and life companion, Sidney Williams, aunts, uncles and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Freda’s last place of employment was Meadow Wind Health Care Center in Massillon, Ohio. Freda loved working at this facility. She loved serving patients, working with co-workers and administration. She often made food for patients and was affectionately known by her younger co-workers as their “Work Mom.” Freda had a great work ethic and was often recruited by hospitals and health care facilities to come work for them due to her knowledge, expertise, and professionalism.
Freda had a heart of gold, and a wonderful sense of humor. She was the funniest most quick-witted person in the family. She could tell funny stories like no other and she loved like no other. Freda’s love languages were acts of service and gift giving. She blessed mere strangers on the street if she thought they needed money as well as friends and family. Freda was a great cook and wonderful host, when you went to her home you didn’t want to leave. She loved the holidays and loved to decorate. She was an avid gardener and loved to travel, and most of all she loved the Lord. Freda will be truly missed
