Freddie L. Johnson went from Labor to Reward on September 2, 2019. Fred was born in Snow Hill, Alabama to Joseph Johnson Sr. and Luevenia (Purifoy) Johnson on August 16, 1945. Fred (also known as Flintstone) was Baptized at an early age at a creek in Alabama. Fred served in the U.S. Army, worked at General Motors, a truck driver, and in the most recent years, a successful business owner of Alyssia’s Lawn Care.
Fred was loved by family, friends and neighbors alike. After his passing, several neighbors came to give their condolences to the family and share fond memories of him. Fred enjoyed fishing, music and was an avid card player in his spare time. Card playing was one of his last pleasures that he enjoyed up to the night before his departure. Fred was one who told it like it was and didn’t bite his tongue. But he was also a very loving guy who would give you his last, after or while fussing at you. Fred would do anything he could in his power to help those he cared for. He had a laugh that made you smile.
Fred loved and adored his son Freddie, whom he showered with love and affection from the time he was born. As a bonus, Fred was blessed with a granddaughter Alyssia, whom he loved beyond life. In his eyes his Pooter could do no wrong. She was, and still is, the apple of his eye.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents Joe Sr. and Luevenia Johnson, brothers Joe Johnson Jr. and Michael Johnson, and bonus sister, Shirley Brown.
Fred will be sorely missed by his son, Freddie L. Stephenson; granddaughter, Alyssia Olivia Renee Stephenson; sisters, Sara (Louis) Johnson of Los Angeles CA, Mildred Johnson of Compton, California, Corine (John) Hill of Olympia, Washington, Brenda (Spelvin) Jackson of Spring, Texas, and Rosie Johnson of Compton, CA, Harriet Wilkerson of Anaheim, CA and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Fred was also a father figure to Walter (Sarrita) Gulley, Anthony Gulley, and Tonya Gulley of Akron, OH, all of whom will cherish his memory. Special sister, Leanora Woodard, bonus granddaughters, Talia Powell and Tia Gulley, bonus daughter, Lisa Stephenson; special friend, Sandra Horton; bonus nieces, Deborah Woodard–Bingham, Seprina (Peanut) Brown, all the Horton, Woodard, Brown, Gulley families, as well as his card-playing buddies, will miss Fred dearly.
