Frederick “Freddie” Lynn Hopkins, beloved son of the late Joseph Hopkins Jr. and Louella Hopkins, was born on January 19, 1956, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Freddie was educated in the Cleveland Public School System and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1974. He dedicated many years of service to the City of Cleveland beginning his career at Highland Golf Course and later retiring from Cleveland Public Power.
Freddie lived a simple, fulfilling life and found great joy in the game of golf, a passion he carried from his teenage years. He cherished his time at the golf course-playing rounds, sharing cards, and enjoying the company of his golf buddies. He especially loved spending time with the children in the family, who brought him endless happiness.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving mother, Louella Hopkins; two brothers, Joseph Hopkins III (Wanda) and Anthony Hopkins; and four sisters, Monica Brown (Michael), Michelle Hopkins-Robinson (Phillip), Karla Hopkins, and Kimberly Thompson. He is also survived by three nieces—Latoya Hopkins, Keisha Fleming, and Tiaira Harris; four nephews—Joseph Hopkins IV, Jovaughn Hopkins, Michael Brown Jr., and Jordan Williamson; eleven great-nieces and great-nephews; three great-great nephews and one great-great niece; special friends Darryl Lackey and Darryl Hudson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
