Frederick Savage, age 61, departed this life on September 5, 2019. He was born in Akron, OH to the late Doris Jean and Jimmie Savage. He grew up with his cousins and Grandma Bessie. Frederick graduated from Garfield High School in 1977. He later joined the United States Marine Corps and The United States Army. On April 13, 1984, He married Inn Sue Chu Savage in Seoul, South Korea. They both decided to move to America with their twin daughters, Ava and Marie. He was also a long-time resident of Manhattan, KS and Junction City, KS. He loved to fish, listen to music and cook a lot of food. He was a great storyteller based on many memories and serving in the military. He taught his grandchildren a story with each food, like Johnny cakes, liver and onions with some special sauce, greens, ham hocks, black eyed peas with diced up ham and pork chops.
He loved to fish with his twins Ava and Marie. Early in the morning the girls would make sandwiches and frozen drinks and go to the Turtle Creek Dam and Rocky Ford. Whoever caught the first fish, won some money. He really loved his daughter Andrea. He was really proud and happy to visit her and spend a lot of time getting to know each other. He loved all 3 of his girls. He is loved by many in Kansas. He took the time to talk, joke, laugh and knew how to have fun. Every time when he came to get his grandsons, Everybody would say “Your Granddad is here.” The music from a block away, to three horns, you got to be ready, or you will get left.” Then he would throw the peace sign up. Meaning, “I’ll see you when I see you.”
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Inn Sue Chu Savage.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, daughters, Ava Savage of Manhattan, KS, Marie Moore of Elizabeth City, NC and Andrea Hoff of Aurora, CO; brother, Larry (Terry) Mckee of Akron, OH; 3 granddaughters; 6 grandsons; 3 nieces; 1 nephew; Goddaughter, Kakeia Kai Cade of Manhattan, KS and host of family and friends in Kansas and OH.
