Gary Michael Hoxie, 64, went home to the Lord on Sunday, August 3, 2025, after a sudden illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Hoxie and Geraldine Hoxie-Williams, and his brother Christopher. He is survived by his wife, Natasha Hoxie, and his daughters, Brianna Hoxie and Alexis Hoxie. Also by his brother, Kirk Hoxie; his wife, Pamela Dodson-Hoxie; his sisters, Michelle Hoxie and Lisa Hoxie; and his stepmother, Lucy Hoxie. As well as his mother-in-law, Edna L. Thomas, and nephews, Kirk Hoxie Jr., Chris Hoxie, and Noah Hoxie.
Gary was born in Buffalo, NY, and raised in the Bronx, NY, until family decisions led him and his mother to Warrensville, OH, in his early teens, where he remained for the rest of his life. Gary loved Warrensville and remained close to the community, his high school, and the beloved friends he made. Gary made friends that lasted a lifetime and was always very proud of his basketball accomplishments and to be a Tiger. After several years in retail, Gary arrived in his profession as a baker, where he spent most of his years and awesome talents. Gary loved to cook and make dishes for his loved ones as well; his biscuits were “to die for,” and his mac and cheese was a crowd favorite at family functions.
Gary was a big family man and led everything he did with love. He loved his wife, Natasha, more than anything, as they were high school sweethearts and had been together for 36 years. Gary and Natasha met at 17 at Warrensville and were together ever since. Also, Gary never missed a chance to brag and be proud of his daughters, Brianna and Alexis. They each grew to form strong bonds with their dad and were true “daddy’s girls.” Gary was his girls’ biggest supporter, never missed a game, always one call away, and always there to help in any way he could. He was the true definition of a great father, and his girls will forever hold on to the memories and love that was given.
Gary’s love for and devotion to his mother—how he walked his mother home from his birth to her passing—was nothing less than supernatural. Gary was there every step of the way and did everything he could to make sure she was as comfortable as possible toward the end of her journey. This is just another example of his capacity for love, care, and devotion to his family. Family was always first and meant everything to him.
The Hoxie family is united and experiencing a deeper level of love because of Gary’s efforts. This is his legacy and a tremendous gift that he has given to us that will endure prayerfully into future generations. Gary embraced his role as the family “Unc” and cherished every opportunity he got to spend with his family. He was so excited everyone was making efforts to spend more time together for holidays and occasions as his nephews and girls grew older.
Gary will be remembered for the love he poured into his family and community. His big heart, kindness, contagious smile, and sense of humor will also be deeply missed. His family and friends will always carry memories of him in their hearts. The family is grateful to everyone who has reached out and shared “Gary” stories and/or photos.
