Gary Upchurch Sr., age 72, passed away on May 21, 2024.
Gary was born in Cleveland, OH to Eddie Upchurch and Helen Collins. Gary attended Cleveland Public Schools and shortly after his high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served as an Apprentice Fuel Specialist, in which he completed a tour in the Vietnam War. Gary was honorably discharged in 1974.
Gary met Denise Upchurch and a few years later they married on May 8, 1981, with whom he shared three children; Kimberly, Katrina and Gary Jr. He worked for Bertin Steel as a Crane Operator for over 20 years. He had a love for fishing and cars.
He was preceded in death by Eddie Upchurch (Father), Helen Collins (Mother), and Terrence Upchurch (brother).
Gary is survived by daughters Kimberly Upchurch and Katrina Hay (Jared), and one son, Gary Jr. (Brittany); brothers Duane (Mary), Kevin, Rexford (Cassandra), and sisters Renee Porter and Tiney Collins; nine grandchildren Shania, Jaya, Davion, Amaya, Zyaire, Ayana, Zyan, Zaidyn and JaKaiya; and one great grandson, Jasiah.
