Gerald T. Butler, Sr. went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 8, 2018. Gerald T. Butler, Sr., departed this earth to his heavenly home on September 8, 2018, at the age of 70. Gerald was born on June 13, 1948, in Akron, OH. He was one of two children born to Anne Jane Dix-Butler and William Butler. Gerald was a U.S. Army Vietnam War Veteran and he loved the military and served his country proud.
He was a gentle spirited person. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. He was the kind of person that would give you his last or find a way for you to get what you need. Along with his kind spirit, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. If anyone knew Gerald they knew he loved his family.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Anne Jane Dix-Butler; his nephew Quitney Dix III; Aunt Ruby Rucker; Grandparents Katie and Quitney Dix Sr.
He leaves to his mourn his passing his devoted wife of 40 years, Patricia; his children, Gerald T. Butler, Jr., Anthony Collins, Patricia “Nikki” Butler, Erika (Jason) Butler-Murphy, Erin (Jerome) Pete, Robin Butler, Joanne (Eric) Parks, and Marcus (Fella). He also was a father figure to many others including Candice Freeman and Tamika Parmer. His devoted brother, Quitney Dix Jr.; Sister-in-laws Joanne Culver, Denise “Dino” Culver; brother-in-law Helton Culver Jr.; grandchildren Daunriae, Lamar, Devin, Briyanna, Autumn, Kamirra, Aaliyah, Ameer, Jaylen, Amira, Braylen, Isaiah, Jason Jr., Ian, and Eric III. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
