Geraldine Travis was born November 14, 1960, to the late Argustavia “Gus” and Lue James Travis in Akron, Ohio. Geraldine was fondly known as “Chop” because of her love for knives.
She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age. She attended Akron Public Schools and worked many years in the public sector and helping out at the Veteran’s Association.
“Chop” was a fun-loving, no nonsense, strong-willed woman. She loved her family and friends and would do anything for any of them. When her Uncle “Bill” was in a car accident, she came to Cleveland, OH and stayed two months to make sure he was taken care of.
She eventually moved to Steubenville, Ohio where she was a resident for many years. She unexpectedly departed this life on May 29, 2022.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her son, Lenaire Travis; her parents, Argustavia and Lue James Travis; Willie James Travis, Betty Jean Harris, David Travis, Isabella Travis and Dorothy Travis.
She leaves many loved ones to cherish her memory: siblings, Gloria Beasley, Johnny Ray Travis, Linda J. Saunders (Marvon), Ernest Travis (Reenea), Yvonne Travis (John), Cynthia Travis, James Boyer, and Barbara Watts; best friends, Zenobia (Snoop) Johnson, Alethea Zimm, Andre, Tracy and Aaron; as well as a host of many nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles.
