Gertrude was born on December 12, 1918, to the late Mack and Minnie Roberts. She went home to be with the Lord on November 24, 2018, at the glorious age of ninety-nine. She was born and raised in Cromwell, Alabama. Later years she married Otis McCall (deceased) and the family relocated to Akron, Ohio where she remained a resident. Gertrude worked for the Goodyear Tire Company for a short while. She later became a Domestic-Caregiver for the loving family of John and Lois Gerstenmaier where she remained an employee for many years. Gertrude was a member of The Greater Bethel Baptist Church where she served and worshipped with her kind and caring church family. The Love of God, family, and friends filled her life with much meaning and joy. Her family continues to grow with thirteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grand and thirty-three great, great-grandchildren. Gardening to maintain a beautiful yard and cooking those southern style meals gave her great pleasure.
She was preceded in death by husband, Albert Larkins; sons Henry and Percy (P.C.) McCall; brothers Mack (M.C.) and Theadore Roberts; sisters Annie Williams and Claretha Payne; grandsons Calvin Ruffin and Eryc Higgins. She leaves to cherish her memory daughters Ada Rodgers, Min. Minnie Ruffin, and devoted daughter and caregiver Odessie McCall; son Willie (Barbara) McCall; sisters Doris Thomas and Emma Geron; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
