Gertrude Thompson, 86, of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away quietly and peacefully on March 5, 2024, due to surgical complications.
Gertrude Thompson (“Nee” Gardner) was born March 13, 1937 in Baldwin, Michigan, to Willie Gardner and Ora Mae Wilkins both deceased. She was preceded in death by her two older sisters Delores Watts and Wiloma Minor. She is survived by one half-sister Gail Mayhan.
Gertrude was the wife of Teger Thompson, who preceded her in death. She was the mother of two daughters, Yolanda Stokes and Wilma Waltham who preceded her in death June 1, 2016. She is survived by seven Grandchildren, Kevin Gardner Sr., Torrance Gardner Sr., Anganique Gardner, Benjamin Massey Jr., Juwan Gardner Sr., Damon White, and Nakenya Gardner Ransom. She is also survived by 25 Great grandchildren and 20 Great Great grandchildren. She was Aunt to 11 Nieces and Nephews, Dwayne Watts (who preceded her in death), Michael Watts, Drian Watts, Summerlyn Menefee, Gina Watts, Marcus Watts, Rosalyn Foster, Zarita Gray, Karen Moore (who preceded her in death), Tracey Moore, Ryan Minor (who preceded her in death), and a host of Great Nieces and Nephews and Great-Great Nieces and Nephews.
Gertrude was fearless and Sensitive, yet incredibly compassionate about her family. She loved to party in the early days but settle down considerably finding comfort in crocheting Afghans and hats, with a little knitting on the side. She enjoyed watching good movies and watched her favorite series The Bridgerton over and over again. She also enjoyed family gatherings.
