Gladys Mae Gunn was born April 26, 1932 in Cleveland Ohio to the union of the late Sunnie Mae Hawley and the late Arthur Leroy Hawley. Gladys was the 2nd of 7 children and twin to sister Gloria Robinson.
Gladys attended John Hay High School where she graduated in 1951. At an early age, Gladys accepted the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized at Temple Baptist Church. Gladys later became a member of Holy Trinity Baptist Church where she served as a long time member of Usher Board No.1 until she could no longer attend. While at home Gladys faithfully continued to watch and support Holy Trinity every Sunday with her family.
Gladys met the late Robert C. Gunn at the Play-Mor Roller Rink in Cleveland and was married in 1951. To their union were Robert O. Gunn Jr and Ronald L. Gunn. Gladys worked for many years in retail until she retired from The May Company.
Gladys was affectionately known as Kitten, Mama, Grammy and Grandma Gladys. Gladys was an avid sports fan who enjoyed Boxing, Football and Basketball. Back in the day she enjoyed trying to predict the Pick 3 with her siblings, although I’m sure they lost more than they won.
Gladys departed this life on June 14th, 2024. She was preceded in death by brothers; Milton “Buddy” Hawley and Richard “Dickey” Hawley and sister; Elaine Johnson, sister-in-law Carrie Lewis and great-grandson Jerry, Jr. She was also preceded by sons; Robert O Gunn Jr and Ronald L Gunn.
