Gladys Marie Smith was born May 30, 1938, in Union South Carolina to the late Walker and Jessie Worthy.  Gladys departed her life on July 7, 2026, after years of health issues at Hospice of the Western Reserve (Ames) Westlake Ohio.

Gladys attended Sims High School located in Union South Carolina.  In her early years she relocated to Cleveland Ohio where she met and married the late Joesph Bruce and had 6 beautiful daughters.  She accepted Christ at an early age where she was on an Usher at the Bethany Christian Church.

She remarried Solomon Smith on November 29, 1985.

She retired from Gould (Northrop Grumman) as a General Assembly Inspector and moved on to work at Macy’s Department store as a clerk (retired) also worked for Discount Drug Mart.

Gladys loved working, shopping and talking with people. She became a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 4 in 1991 and received several awards for her dedication to this organization. She still was an active member until she became ill.

She was recognized by the City of Cleveland for the years of service and dedication to the community and Bethany Christian Church.

Gladys loved her family and God. She was always trying to lead someone in the right direction has she would say    “Been there and done that”.

Gladys leaves to cherish her devoted husband Soloman Smith, children Joanne Wilson (Stanley, Patricia Bruce, Jacqueline Yokoyama (Maz), Gloria Anderson (Eric) Phyllis Thomas (EJ), stepsisters and brother Karen Smith (Bernard deceased), Vernita Smith (deceased), Lakeshia Smith and Derrick Smith (deceased). Gladys also leaves to cherish her siblings Mac Worthy (Willie) Virginia, Lattimore Worthy (Sarah), of Upper Marlboro MD.

She also leaves her Grand Kids, Great Grand Kids a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
