Grace E. “Beth” Olmstead, age 72, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on October 21, 2019. Beth was born on September 1, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA in 1967. She graduated from J. F. Kennedy High School in Cleveland, Ohio. She received her B.A. Degree in Sociology from Wilberforce University in 1971, and was awarded a Master of Education from Kent State University in 1972.
Beth relocated to Akron in 1977. She served as an Academic Adviser and Coordinator of Students with Disabilities at the University of Akron. In 2006, after 30 years of service, she retired. After retirement, she worked for Akron Public Schools as an Educational Assistant. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
Beth will be remembered for her kindness, wit, courage, and devotion to her beloved dogs: Bandit, Buttons, and Princess.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Grace Olmstead, and nephew, Frank Reed.
She leaves to cherish her memory, sister, Victoria Reed; canine daughter, Princess; niece, Michelle Reed of Akron; nephew, Timothy C. Reed of North Carolina and countless friends and relatives; close family friends, Brenda Brown, Larissa Brown and Zora Brown; special appreciation and gratitude to Karen Gegick for her loving care and support during the last few months.
