Gracie L. Burr was born December 30, 1940 in Montgomery, Alabama. She received her wings on Tuesday, June 26, 2024, surrounded by her family.
She relocated to Akron, OH during her teen years and graduated from South High School. She was united in marriage to Will Burr Jr. in 1965. Gracie continued her education in child development, and worked at Akron Towel, The Board of Education and Children’s Services.
She was a faithful member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church serving as a Greeter and a member of the Deborah Circle up until her illness. Her hobbies included bowling, social groups (Ten Sisters, The Ladies Helping Hand Social Club and The Starlight Social Club).
Gracie was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Burr Jr; mother, Lilly Mae McCray; father, Robert (Irene) Grant; brother, Sammie Grant; and father-in-law, Willie (Lucille) Burr).
She leaves to cherish her memory daughters, April (Najm) Ameen, Adrian Burr (Charles L. Barnett Jr.); son, Darren “Dino” Burr of CA; sisters, Sarah Figaro of Yuba City, CA, Maxine Grant of Houston, TX, Joyce McCray (Michigan), Jacqueline Dawson of Oakdale, PA and Sheila Grant of Akron, OH; sister-in-laws, Geraldine Burr and Marjorie Burr; brother-in-laws, Edwin Burr, Robert (Gloria) Burr and Gerald Burr; grandchildren, Rayvon Burr (Cheyenne Sky), Cash’e Moore, Najm Porter, Ameen Stanley, Germaine Burr, Najiah Bedford, Amir Bedford and 5 great grandchildren (with one on the way); close friends, Sandy Hutch, Betty Jackson, Orlee Dunn, Jean Sims, Barb Grant, Roberta Peters, Berlin Anderson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
