Gregory Clarence Betts, age 81, went home to be with the Lord on October 11, 2022.
Gregory Clarence Betts was born on May 21, 1941, to the union of the Benjamin Betts Sr and Alberta Betts in Cleveland, OH. He was the fifth of six children. His Siblings Benjamin Betts Jr., Margret Martin, Margret Doris Betts preceded him in Death.
Greg attended Cleveland Public Schools excelling in track and playing the clarinet. He enlisted in the United States Army on October 27, 1958, and served honorably until his discharge on July 29, 1965. After military service Greg worked at Eaton Corp. then Chrysler Stamping Plant in Twinsburg OH. His first position at Chrysler was office clerk, he retired as a Line Supervisor. He served in the union as a convention delegate, union steward, and various other positions.
He was very active in the Bedford Hts. Community. He held several positions in the H.O.M.E. home-owners association. Greg ran for political office several times. He also volunteered in the Community Center also working in the 60 Plus Club and other senior programs.
Greg enjoyed bowling, going to casinos, and traveling. He traveled throughout the United States as well as the Caribbean, Europe and the Mediterranean. Greg was a gracious host at home and attended all family weddings, picnics, cookouts, anniversaries, family reunions, and casual get-togethers. He was a good Bid Whist player and knowledgeable in conversations. He loved his family and was loved by many. Greg was baptized while serving in the military, in Kentucky, in 1960. He was called home to rest October 11, 2022.
Greg leaves to mourn his siblings Herbert Betts (Charlene), Erma Howard (Allen) nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, along with many cousins and friends. Greg lived to see and enjoy 5 generations of his immediate family.
