Celebrating the Life of Gregory D. Hayes-Bey Sr.
A Loving Companion, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Friend
Gregory D. Hayes-Bey Sr. was born on July 8, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the union of the late Mr. Elmer Hayes and Mrs. Christine Hayes. On March 8, 2026, Greg transitioned from this earthly realm to his eternal rest. Greg lived a full and rich life during his time here.
Greg was educated in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and attended John F. Kennedy High School. After high school, Greg worked for a short time as a security guard, but soon afterward he began working for the Regional Transit Authority (RTA). Greg retired from RTA after 34 years of devoted service. Greg loved his job as a bus driver; it was there that he met his devoted and loving companion, Ann Rudolph, whom he affectionately called “my baby Bell.” For 26 years, it was Greg and Bell living life together and enjoying everything life had to offer them, until Greg could no longer do all the things he loved. The decision was made to place him into the caring hands of Grand Pointe Healthcare Center, where he remained the staff’s favorite patient until the very end.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Elmer Hayes and Mrs. Christine Hayes; his son, Kalid X; and his granddaughter, Cameron Hayes.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his beloved and devoted companion, Ann Rudolph; his loving daughters, Munira X Hayes and Malika Hayes; his loving son, Gregory D. Hayes-Bey Jr (Marie); his bonus daughter, Jeanetta Price; his loving sister, Carla Tillman (Bill); his loving brother, Darryl Hayes (Iris); his bonus sister, Tahira Husamadeen; two bonus brothers, Thomas Reeves and Preston King-Bey; his grandchildren, Ashley, Gia, Gianni, Trey, Tony, Jonathan, Brandon, and Courtney; his great-grandchildren, Prince, Aaliyah, Londyn, Kourtni’Ja, and Kaiden; his aunts, Gloria Hayes and Marion Grier; his niece, Allison Tillman Murr (Shane); his nephews, Armond Hayes (Latoya), Brandon Hart (Irma), and Austin; and a host of friends who will forever cherish his memory.
