Gregory was born on December 15, 1962 in Cleveland, Ohio to Juanita P. Blanks and Carlton Banks.

Gregory attended Collinwood High school in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated in 1981.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from April 1982 to June 1984.  After his discharge from the Marine Corps, he worked for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service for over 26 years.  He retired from the Federal Government in February 2021.

Gregory had a passion for travel and grilling. He loved the outdoors.  His favorite hobby was watching football and basketball.  He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. He was a God-fearing man.

Gregory R. Banks passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023, Gregory R. Banks passed away at age 60 after a long battle with cancer. Gregory was preceded in death by his father, Carlton, and his mother, Juanita.

Gregory is survived by his fiancée Regina Hunter, his sister Tammy Tompkins, her fiancé James Thompson, Carlton Banks Jr, Brian Banks, Abdul Banks and the entire Blanks family in Charleston, West Virginia and a host of friends and family.
