Grier Will McIntosh Jr. (Butch) born on July 16, 1946, to Grier McIntosh Sr. and Izola Simmons McIntosh. He transitioned on Monday, May 18, 2026, after courageously facing many health challenges in recent years.
During his early years, Grier lived with his family in Cleveland’s Glenville neighborhood, where he attended Parkwood Elementary School and Patrick Henry Junior High School. In 1963, the family relocated to Speedway Overlook Drive in East Cleveland, Ohio, where they resided for 43 years. Grier graduated from Shaw High School in 1966 and later earned a certificate in accounting from Mahoning Valley Vocational School.
In 1967, Greer moved to New York City to live with his older brother, Marvin Wimbush. Upon returning to Cleveland, he began working at the downtown main branch of the Cleveland Trust Company. It was there that Grier cultivated his impeccable sense of style and fashion for which he became so well known. From his sharp suits and polished shoes to his hats, scarves, jewelry, and walking sticks, Grier carried himself with elegance and confidence from head to toe.
In 1968, Grier relocated to New Orleans, Louisiana, where he lived for several years with his older brother, Ronald Wimbush. After returning once more to Cleveland, he worked at University Hospitals before beginning a long and dedicated career as a custodian at Shaker Heights High School. He remained with the Shaker Heights City School District until his retirement in 2010.
Over the last twelve years, Grier faced ongoing health struggles with high blood pressure and diabetes, which eventually led to renal failure and dialysis treatments. During the past year especially, he encountered numerous complications that ultimately led to his passing.
Grier was preceded in death by his parents, Grier McIntosh Sr. and Izola McIntosh; his brothers, Ronald Sylvester Wimbush and Marvin Dennis Wimbush; and his nephew, Derek Christopher McIntosh.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving sister, Karen McIntosh; Andrea McIntosh Williams (Shoat) niece, Wanda (Derek) McIntosh.

Grier will be remembered with love, joyful laughter, and wonderful memories. He often said that “it costs nothing to make someone laugh,” and more often than not, he laughed the hardest at his own jokes. admittedly that was one of the many things that made him so special. It is our hope that whenever you remember Grier it is with a smile or a laugh.
