Pastor Guy Angelo Templeton Sr, age 63, passed away on August 17, 2024, surrounded by family.
Guy Angelo Templeton was born in Fairmont, WV on April 15, 1961, to Herman Templeton Jr. and Carolyn Templeton (Mitchell). They moved to Akron, Ohio when he was a young child. Guy spent many ‘wild and wonderful’ summers in West Virginia with his grandparents (Big Dad and Granny), some of his aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends learning and playing. It was during one of those summers that he was nicknamed “Rip” by his grandmother.
Guy Templeton graduated from Buchtel High School, Akron, Ohio in 1979. He worked at Dairy Queen as a young man and worked for Stewart and Calhoun. Guy started at Acme around this same time, working in nearly every department from the front door to the back. He retired from Acme more than 30 years later only to then work for UFCW local 880 for another 5 years before he fully retired. Guy was blessed to have made many good friends during his working career.
Guy was the son of a Pastor (a P.K. if you will) and grew up knowing what it meant to be a child of God and learning the Bible, at his parents’ side. They attended church at Prayer Tower (now Tower of Prayer), Akron, Ohio, until his father founded Thompson Memorial COGIC (now H. Templeton Ministries) in Akron, Ohio. Guy learned how to love and serve God by example and strived to do so throughout his life. Pastor Guy Angelo Templeton Sr., with the support of his wife of nearly 17 years, Lisa White-Templeton, was installed as Senior Pastor of H. Templeton Ministries on May 29, 2022, and could not have been prouder to follow in his father’s legacy to serve God and his community.
Guy Angelo Templeton Sr. was preceded in death by his loving parents Herman Jr. and Carolyn Templeton and with heartfelt loss of multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
Guy Angelo Templeton Sr. is survived by his wife, Lisa White-Templeton; his children, Angela (Emon) Satterwhite; daughter, Tiffany (Willis) Glass; son, Guy Jr. (LaToiya) Templeton; their mother, Candy Moorer; his daughter, Annalise Templeton; stepchildren, Trista (Jordan) and Corbin (Sara); his grandchildren who lovingly call him “Dada Rip”, Mekiah and Mariah Patrick, Tye, Zuri and Simon Glass, Kennedy and Avery Templeton; step grandchildren, Corenne and Henry Lindstrom, Wesley White; god-daughters, Turquoise Hatcher; Brittany and Amia Williams; aunts, Arlena White, Selma (Bae Bae) Merchant, Sarah (Adell) Oden, Marlene Mitchell, Stella Mitchell; uncles, Paul (Janie) Mitchell, John (Edna) Mitchell, Willie Sr. (Kathy) Templeton, Alfred (Charlene) Templeton and Johnny (Corrine) Templeton; brother-in-law, Kris (Amber) Hoagland (Golden); sister-in-law, Lorie (Greg) Rorrer; god-daughters, Turquoise Hatcher, Brittany and Amia Williams; nieces, nephews and cousins (many more than can be mentioned), and close friends that should be also considered family.
