Gwendolyn Grayson, affectionately known as “Gwen”, “GG,” “Gauntie,” “Sister,” and “Gwennie,” passed away on December 20, 2024, at the age of 59. Born on July 15, 1965, in Barberton, Ohio, Gwen was raised in Akron, Ohio, and later lived in the Virginia and Maryland area where she built a life filled with love, laughter, and purpose.
Gwen had an infectious personality, and she was truly the life of the party, loved dancing, shopping, being fashionable and never failed to make people laugh. Gwen deeply valued friendship and connected with many people throughout the seasons of her life and she will live on in the hearts of those who cherished her vibrant spirit and compassionate soul.
Gwen’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She gave her life to Christ and often shared her testimony about the first miracle she experienced, which she believed marked a turning point in her journey of faith. Her favorite scripture was about the woman who touched the hem of Jesus’ garment and was healed (Mark 5:25-34), a verse that gave her strength and hope throughout her life.
As a dedicated professional, Gwen worked at Kaiser Permanente for 30 years. Of all her roles, she especially loved serving as a Behavioral Health Receptionist, where she touched countless lives. In her pursuit of continued growth, Gwen was studying for a degree in Psychology and excelled as a student, earning her place on the Dean’s List-an accomplishment she proudly shared with family and friends.
She is survived by her brothers Kevin Board (Barberton, Ohio) and Marcus Board (Akron, Ohio); sisters Cynthia Grayson (Jacksonville, Florida) and Tracy Prince (Rodney)(Jacksonville, Florida); nieces and nephews Desarie Board (Elisha and Henry), Marcus Board Jr. and Miriam (Miriam Tesfamikael), Dezshanae Grayson, Teon Blann, Daquon Blann, Brittney Prince (Jamal), and Deivan Prince.
