Gwendolyn Marie Newell, Age 69 , Passed away October 12 , 2024

Gwendolyn Marie Clark Newell was born June
16, 1955, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the union of
Freddie and Katherine Clark, who preceded
her in death. She departed this world
peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, October
4, 2024, in the comfort of her home.
Gwen accepted Christ at an early age at
Sacrificial Baptist Church. She was currently
attending God’s House of Prayer and
Deliverance Holiness Church. In 2001, she
dedicated herself to God through the Purity
with Purpose program and became certified
personnel for the course.
Gwen attended Cleveland Public Schools and
graduated from John F. Kennedy High School
in 1974. She received an Associates Degree at
Southern Ohio College. She had additional
certification from various colleges, including
Baldwin Wallace. She joined the Order of the
Eastern Star (OES) in 1989.

Gwen was married to Anthony Newell on
December 8, 1980. This marriage stood the test
of time for 44 years.
Gwen has had an extensive work history. She
worked at University Manor, Tenna Corporation,
Women’s Federal Bank, The Federal Building
and 29 years at the Post Office.
In her spare time, she enjoyed reading,
traveling, spending time with family, and taking
a good nap (as often as possible)!
Gwendolyn leaves to cherish her memories her
loving husband, Anthony Newell; children;
Demetrius Clark (Cynthia), DeWayne Newell,
Paula Hollinsworth (Anthony), and Demetria
McCormick (Ronald). Grandchildren; Demetrius,
Tiyonna, Tierra, Daysha, DeWayne, Lutana,
Crystal, Keyera, Jordan and Katorie. She had
one great grandchild, Kyrie. Siblings; Freddie Jr.
Clark, Doris Turman (Henry “Butch”), Michael
Clark, Darnell Clark (Deidra). Sisters and
Brothers in Love; Delores Ruffin (Clarence), John
Newell, Sylvester Newell (Gazetta), Cecil Newell
(Adrienne), Patricia Johnson (John), Mary E.
Husband (George). She had one godson,
Emanuel Towns. As well as a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins and dear friends.
