Harold was born on July 16, 1951, to Robert E. Russell, Jr and Juliette Russell (who preceded him in death). He was the second of eight children. His family affectionately called him “Georgie.”
Harold accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age.
Harold attended Glenville High School for a while. He later transferred and completed his education at Collinwood High School. He was very athletic. He played football and basketball, but basketball was his passion. Harold was passionate about his own games and later his sons’ games. He was so passionate, he was once ejected from his twin son’s game. He played basketball at Collinwood High School where he broke the school record for most rebounds. After graduating from Collinwood High School, he went on to attend Cuyahoga Community College.
He continued to play basketball as well as coaching numerous youths. He was an AAU coach where he partnered with other coaches to develop young players to compete in basketball tournaments. He also coached his sons and his baby sister. He won a plethora of trophies playing and coaching.
On December 4, 1976, he married Wanda Mathis Russell. They were united in marriage for 49 years. He was a family man. He loved his wife and he loved his family. He was a provider, protector, and a hard worker. He was a good-hearted, loyal and generous man. Harold gave away cars, money, food, and bikes, to family and friends. He would also open his home. He would help you if you needed help.
He worked at several jobs including J&L Steel, Parker Hannifin Corp., Frito Lay and Progressive.
He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory a loving devoted wife Wanda Russell, four daughters: Kendra Lott,( Dante ) Sonya Russell, Tenia Russell Barnett(Charles), Jami Russell, five sons: Harold Russell Jr, Darryl Russell, Steven Russell, Maurice Russell(Erica), Ryan Russell(Ashley), Father Robert E. Russell Jr, three brothers: Robert E. Russell III, Gerald Russell, Jeff Russell, four sisters: Gloria Russell Williams(Willie), Lynnette Russell Kendall, Carol Russell, Joyce Russell, 19 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, aunts, 1 uncle, cousins and a host of nieces and nephews.
