Harold Lewis was born to the late Nathaniel and Dessie Lewis on May 31, 1935 in Akron, Ohio. All of his siblings preceded him in death.
Harold lived in Akron, Ohio his entire life, attending North High School where he played football, and after his military career ended, where he attended church and raised a family.
In 1957 Harold joined the United States Marine Corps, achieving the rank of Private First Class. He was released from active duty in 1959 whereupon he joined the Marine Air Reserve Training Command as a reservist. He was honorably discharged from the military and given a Medal of Good Conduct in 1963. While in the military, Harold worked as an A/C Radar Tech and Electrical Tester. He used that knowledge and earned certificates in the electrical and plumbing trade
Possessing a strong work ethic, and using the skills he learned in the military, Harold worked for more than thirty years for the Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority as an electrician.
Harold met his beloved wife, Doretha. The two were married for 30 plus years and were inseparable, if you saw one, you saw the other. To that union four children were born, Darryl (deceased), Carla, Curtis, and Charles “Chucky” (deceased). Harold mourned the passing of his wife in 2021.
A sound, confessed believer in Christ, Harold was a long-time, faithful member of Colburn Street Original Church of God in Akron. An active member for many years, Harold was committed to his service for the Lord. Harold, studying under WHO, a renowned Bible scholar lived by the verse, “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth,” Harold, who became a Sunday school and bible study teacher, was dedicated to sharing God’s word and taught Sunday School and Bible study.
On November 19, 2025, at while at home, Harold understood the Lord to say, “Job well done my good and faithful servant,” and he transitioned from his earthly life to his heavenly home. His passing, after a short illness. Harold leaves to mourn his daughter, Carla Kenner, and son, Curtis Lewis
