Harold Moore Thomas was born in Beaver Dam, Kentucky on June 5, 1939 to Rev. Richard A. and Gwendolyn Thomas. He was the second born of twelve children and was raised in Evansville Indiana. Harold gave his life to Christ at an early age and church was always a great part of his life. At age eight, he and five other family members formed a singing group called the Thomas Melody Harmonizers, which traveled and recorded a record. In high school, Harold was a football star and was lauded by the local newspaper as the “sleek 125-pound Negro halfback” who led his team to victory many times over. After graduation, he moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he lived the rest of his life. In Cleveland, on a blind date, Harold met the love of his life, Beverly. They quickly married and had four children. During his working years, Harold worked for the U.S. Postal Service and then worked and retired from the Cleveland School Board, where he was a Head Custodian until age 55. Alongside his career, he liked to grow and challenge himself, so he also became a Realtor, campaign manager and studied to do taxes. He also volunteered as a Boy Scout Pack Leader, and ushered for Gund Arena, Ohio Theater, and Severance Hall. In church, he served as Deacon, Elder, and Trustee. Harold had many hobbies that he shared with friends and family. Some were camping, playing golf, ballroom dancing, playing bridge, and traveling. What he loved most was spending time with family and building relationships. He never met a stranger! Sadly, Harold was preceded in death by his daughter Karla Noelle of Cleveland, his only granddaughter, Cidney Nicole of Cleveland, and his brother Wayne of Evansville, to whom he was very close. Harold leaves to cherish his legacy and memories, his devoted wife Beverly, with whom he shared 60 year of marriage; his sons, Harold Jr. (Deborah) of York, South Carolina, Kevin of Cleveland, Ohio; his daughter, Kathy Teamor (Ricardo) of Charlotte, North Carolina; his grandsons, Pablo (Vanessa), Joshua (Karie), Dylan, Jayson, and Karl; and his great grands Lincoln and Vida. He also leaves 10 loving brothers and sisters.
