Harry Bliss Morris Jr. was born on April 18, 1956, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Harry B. Morris Sr. and Mary Alice Ellington Morris.
Harry received his early education at Parkwood Elementary School and Joseph F. Landis Elementary School before attending F.D.R. Junior High School. He continued his education at John Hay High School, graduating in 1974, and later attended Oberlin College.
Harry began his career at Xerox and later became a partner in Nirvana Analytics.
Harry had a strong belief in God, and his faith was an important part of his life. He had a great love of sports and was an avid fan of his hometown teams—the Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Guardians, formerly known as the Cleveland Indians.
More than anything, Harry will be remembered for the way he treated people. He was a loving husband, wonderful brother, devoted father, and faithful friend. Harry never met a stranger and had a way of making those around him feel welcome. His family and friends will also remember the words of wisdom he often shared:
“You’ll never trip over boulders; it’s the pebbles you have to watch for.”
Harry leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Valerie Marks-Morris; his son, Harry “B.J.” Morris, and B.J.’s mother, Tonya Shy-Morris; his stepchildren, Stanley Wilson and his wife, Samantha, Brandon Wilson, and Stephen Wilson and TeShon Seawright; his only sibling and sister, Susan Morris; along with his extended family and many cherished friends.
Harry had no grandchildren.
On his father’s side of the family, Harry was preceded in death by his uncles, Harry Morris, William Morris, John Morris, Donald Morris, Phillip Morris, and Charles Morris; and his aunts, Ruth Atkins, Eunice Flippins, Naomi Hayes, Rose Sheppard, and Evelyn Octavia Sharp (Leroy Sharp).
On his mother’s side of the family, he was preceded in death by his uncles, Willie Ellington, Walter Ellington, and Harvey Ellington; and his aunts, Virginia Williams, Winnie Scruggs, and Dorothy Jones.
He also leaves to cherish his memory Valerie’s siblings: Thelma Porter (Emanuel), Mariah Marks, Elizabeth Marks, Manay Marks-Marshall (Willie), Pamela Allen (Standley), and Priscilla Marks-Moore (Jonathan).
