Hattie Mae Davis was born on January 1, 1928 in Natchez, Mississippi to Robert Butler and Harriet Jackson Butler. She departed her earthly home on Friday, October 13, 2017.
Hattie relocated to Akron, OH in 1947 and obtained a high school diploma. She was an active member of the New Trinity Missionary Baptist Church and worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, working with Dr. Traul and Family for 16 years, Pearl View Nursing Home for 25 years and several private duty clients throughout the City of Akron. Hattie’s friends extended throughout West Akron and to the surrounding burros. Everyone, whom she met, was adopted into the family with open arms.
Hattie was the beloved wife of veteran Matthew Davis.
Her hobbies were gardening, arranging flowers, taking vacations with family members, cooking and watching the Cavs.
Hattie was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Harriet Butler; husband, Matthew Davis; daughter, Kathy Davis; grandson, Dewaun Davis; siblings, Irene, Marie, Lucille and Joe.
Left to cherish her memory are sons, Gregory Davis, Carl (Marlene) Davis and Anthony (Senta) Davis all of Akron, OH; grandchildren, Carl Davis Jr. of Akron, OH, Tiffany (Robert) Palmer of Lawrenceville, GA, Anthony Davis of Elyria, OH, Sydney and Jordan Davis both of Akron, OH; 4 great-grandchildren; In-laws, Diane Davis, Delores Wyatt; Goddaughter, Christine Robinson; special friends, McKinley Barnes, Fred Harris, Patrice Ashford, Essie Wallace, Rochelle Holmes, Willette McClellan, Linda Tuney, Sharon Trice, Francine Lewis, Deanna White, Linda Wood and Vanessa Talley.
