Here’s the short biography of Hattie Mae Taylor. Hattie Mae Reed was born on August 19, 1937, to the late Hattie and Putey Reed in Tallassee, Alabama. She came from a big family, being the
fifth child to ten siblings, five sisters and five brothers. She was a hairdresser in her early years.
She soon met the love of her life her husband Caleb Taylor of 58 years in Montgomery, Alabama in 1959. She moved to Cleveland, Ohio for a better life where she raised her two children with
her husband, Caleb. Hattie had various jobs before she landed a fulfilling career in nursing during her mid 30s. At the age of 35 years old, Hattie became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Hattie
worked as an LPN throughout her life, holding down two, sometimes three nursing jobs to help provide for her family. She retired from nursing after 40 years at the age of 75.
Hattie was always a loving and caring person. She would always help those she cared about if she could. Hattie was hardworking and wanted the very best for her children and grandchildren. She would move mountains if she had to, so she could accomplish whatever she needed to for her family. What she cherished the most was the valued memories she created
traveling to different places with her husband and grandchildren in their family van. Hattie devoted herself to Jehovah God in 2024 by getting baptized. By all accounts Hattie Mae Taylor,
was a wonderful wife, mother, caring and doting grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, sister-in-law, and friend to all. She had an awesome personality and a loving heart highlighted by a smile that
could light up a room. Hattie was the best nurse to her patients and staff. Hattie Mae Taylor fell asleep into death on April 13, 2026.
Hattie was preceded in death by her husband Caleb Taylor, her daughter Cassandra Taylor, three sisters Mary Williams, Dorothy Reed, Marie Simmons, and five brothers James Reed, Robert
Reed, Dewitt Reed, Eddie Reed, and Jimmy Reed.
She leaves to treasure her loving memory her daughter Lisa Pope (Georgia); her grandchildren Donte Jones (Ohio), Brandii Carter (Ohio), Ariana Carter (Georgia), Thomas Allen Jackson III
(Nevada), and Josiah Alric Pope Jr. (Ohio); her three great- grandchildren Maison Carter (Georgia), AzRael Newsome (Georgia), Thomas Allen Jackson IV (Nevada); her two sisters
Carolyn “Lima” Rowell (Ohio), Ollie Laprade (Ohio); one brother Wilbert Reed; her devoted nieces Yvonne Walker and Annie Louis Laprade and a host of other nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to her devoted friends that have help her over the years, Darlene Williams, Patricia Berry, Brenda Cummingham, and Earlie White for all their support while most of her
family lived far away. Thank you for stepping in for Hattie wherever you could. We her family appreciate all that you did for her.
Hattie Mae Taylor is now in heaven with her Husband Caleb Taylor, daughter Cassandra Taylor, and siblings looking over us all. Hattie, we love you, thank you, and appreciate everything you
