Hazel A. Gadson, 73, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 27, 2017 after a short illness. Hazel was born to the late Emmitt and Mabel Goodloe in Cherokee, AL on May 18, 1944. After the completion of Cherokee High School Hazel relocated and became a lifetime resident of Akron, OH.
She earned her cosmetology license and worked as a hair designer at Modernistic Beauty Salon. Later gaining ownership of the salon and retiring after 50 years of service. She went on to work for Akron Public Schools and retired with them after eight years of service.
Hazel enjoyed life. She loved to cook for herself and others. She loved to travel, fish and celebrate holidays; especially being amongst family and friends. However, her first true love was gambling. In her younger days she was an avid bowler, president of The Lady Queens and currently president of the Collinson Apt. Building. All will miss Hazel’s smile, laughter and red lipstick.
She was preceded in death by eight of her siblings, Annie, Allie, Sadie, Emmitt Jr., Mable, Omar, Dorothy and Harold. Survived by her loving and devoted sister Alice Juanita Daniels and brother Eural (Loretta) Goodloe. Her children, son Patrick Gadson and devoted daughter Felicia Gadson. Grandchildren, Dontay, Jalicia, Tatiyana, Patrick Jr. and Dar’Neja; special grandson Hashim; special nieces and nephew Linda, Brenda and Benny and a host of family and friends.
