Helen Julia Bell was born April 14, 933 in Roanoke, Virginia to Samuel and Anita Lawton, who later moved to Akron to start a new life. Helen’s sunset was at The Gables of Westerville near her daughter. She loved playing poker, Wii bowling, bingo, jewelry making, armchair balloon volleyball and earned prizes for competitive events.
Helen graduated from East high school where she participated in Senior Y-Team and earned her nicknames, like Soap Opera Lawton, Bootie and Noots. She was a member of The Greater Bethel Baptist church under Reverend Gordon Humphrey and where she was baptized and became a member.
Helen held numerous jobs from working at the A&P on Arlington St. to working as a assembler of air springs at Goodyear, Greenberg from which she retired and was member of the UARW.
She wanted us to know she was thankful for the life God gave her and she didn’t want us to grieve her but rejoice in her transition and her greatest wish was for her family to be together on all things and communicate with another. The fondest memory was her 80th birthday party with family and friends where she danced the night away, she loved to dance and taught her children to dance.
