Helen Lockhart transitioned home to be with the LORD surrounded by her family on January 24, 2022, at Summa Health Hospital after a short illness.
Helen was born August 26, 1940, in Pinola, Mississippi to parents, Plez and Lola Dampeer. She was united in marriage to the late Lee Artis Lockhart for over 49 loving years.
Helen’s love for children inspired her to apply to the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services where she worked for the Child Care division for 23 years. As a home care provider, she raised not only her three children, but she also helped raise and nurture numerous children throughout Summit County. She dispensed lots of love, food, advise and comfort to all those who passed through her door.
For years her home was the place to be for parties, cookouts, and holiday gatherings. There was always food, music, fun and who can forget her loud contagious laughter? Her sisters and brothers were a very close family who loved and cherished one another.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Plez and Lola Dampeer; sisters, Irene Weary, Alma Dixon, and Arma Sewell; brothers, L.V., L.W, Sheldon, L.D, Lonnie, Donnie, Charles and Clyde Dampeer.
She is survived by son, Michael Lee (Tracey); daughters, Cheryl Renee (Mark), and Denise Rachelle (Marrion); grandchildren, Michael II, Cydnee, Bianca, Mark and Daniel; godson, Cecil West; a host of nieces and nephews; as well as special friends, Aunt Curtisine Dampier, Mr. & Mrs. Kenny Larry and Ms. Doretha Wright.
