On July 6, 1952, God blessed Essie D. Gray and Mose Chandler with a handsome baby boy. The baby’s name was Homer Lee. On April 20, 2019, Our Father in Heaven called Homer back to his heavenly home. Homer went to South Side Elementary School. He also attended Fifth Street High School. Homer was very hard working and was a wonderful family man. Homer was very protective of his family. Homer traveled to many states and worked at many jobs. He often received many accommodations for his outstanding ability to be at work without taking days off. He really loved his wife and children. After the death of his wife who lived in Ohio at the time and after the death of his mother who lived in Mississippi, Homer moved back to West Point, Mississippi.
Homer was preceded by his wife, Delores Reed; his mother, Essie R. Gray Moore; and two sisters, Mary Dean Williams, and Rosie Marie Green. Homer leaves to cherish his memories to three sons, Che Lamar Barney of Corpus Christi, Texas, Lil Homer Green of Houston, Texas, and Marvin Lee Reed of Cleveland, Ohio; one step-daughter, Alethea Chante Chambers of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Willietta Lafond of Columbia, South Carolina; brothers, Elijah Reed Jr of Tibbee, Mississippi, Curtis Ivy Reed of West Point, Mississippi; aunts and uncles, Bettye and Harry Simmons of Columbus, Mississippi, Vera and George Husband of Lancaster, California, and Stella and Robert Grays of Lancaster, California. He also leaves a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and acquaintances.
