Hygene T. Rouse, Jr. passed away July 1, 2018.
Hygene was born March 5, 1942, in Browder, Kentucky to Hygene T. Rouse, Sr. and Johnnie Lucile Springfield-Rouse. He was a high school graduate from Madisonville High School. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in 1993 after 30 years of service as a steelworker in the Rim Plant.
In 1962, he married the love of his life, Teresa Ray, and to that union were born Sylvia, Perry, Beverly, Regina and Gene Rouse.
Hygene was an avid listener to all types of music. He loved dancing, cooking, boats, fishing and most of all his family. He joined the Army and received an Honorable Discharge.
Hygene was preceded in death by his parents, Hygene Sr. and Johnnie Lucile Rouse; daughter, Regina Rouse; son, Perry Rouse; brothers, Stevie Western, James Rouse, Bruce Western; and sister, Vanessa “Dale” Dozier.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Teresa Ray-Rouse; daughters, Sylvia Rouse and Beverly (Darin) Wilkerson; and son, Gene Thomas (Dawn) Rouse I; brother, Charles (Towana) Western; and sister, Glenda “Katy” Western of Kentucky; grandchildren, Darwain Rouse Sr., Shaunte Rouse, Brandon Jackson, Negail Rouse, Antonio Thomas, Gene T. Rouse II, Paris (Jillian) Rouse, Tyrell Cook and Octavia Rouse, all of Akron, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Meldreana Jefferson, Darwain Rouse Jr., Bria Jackson, Negail Rouse, Raymel, Keion and Addonis Thomas, Geion and Keillen Rouse and Tylee Cook; “adopted” son, Derrick Jackson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
