Irvin Rivers Jr. affectionately known as “Jr.” and “Jabo” went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday June 18, 2019. He was born on November 6, 1948 in Akron, Ohio to Irvin and Sufern Rivers. He started his career in construction with Worthy Concrete Construction Co. He also worked for Ruhlin Constr., Fabro Constr., Ohio Turnpike, Williams Constr., Trumbull National Engineering and various other companies through his Labor Union #894. After his retirement from construction in 2004, He was employed by Car Parts Warehouse, Avon Co., Uber and Lyft as a driver. Irvin loved to listen to music, hand dancing, playing cards, hanging out at Cedar Wings with his friends, playing all kinds of games, and telling riddles or jokes that would make you laugh out loud and think hard for the answer.
Irvin was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Irvin and Sufern Rivers and brother, Larry Rivers.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted sisters who never left his side; Bernadine Scott and LaVerne Rivers; Loving brother, that he talked to daily, Maurice (Penny) Rivers, of Toledo, OH; his right hand man and faithful nephew, Eric Scott; aunts, Ida Bradford and Shirley Bradford, niece, Candice Turman; nephews, Lawrence (Candace) Turman, Alex Rivers; 6 great nieces and nephew; special “sista”-cousin, Adrienne Bradford Griffin; close family friend (sister), Anna Johnson; close friends, the Hamilton family, the McCombs family, and Sidney Clark, along with a host of wonderful cousins and friends.
