Irvin T. King

Irvin Tampus King was born November 11, 1959, in Kansas City, Missouri to Gino Washington. On February 27, 2026, Irvin transitioned from this life to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his mother, and brother, Eric Van King.

Irvin affectionately known as “Tampus” by his family and friends, “Irvin” by co-workers and his Military Family, and “Bruno” in the streets. Irvin was a native of Cleveland, Ohio and received his formal education from Cleveland School District attending John Hay High School. Irvin pledged an oath joining the U.S. Navy and served in — as a Front-Line Cook. Irvin completed two tours of service and received an Honorable discharged. After his military career Irvin lived in many locations throughout the United States to a name a few, California, Hawaii, Indiana and Michigan. Irvin touched many hearts, and many looked up to him, he later returned to Cleveland, Ohio. Irvin’s career working as a front-line cook offered him multiple opportunities in various restaurants in Cleveland Ohio. His work ethics and performance achieved excellence in every job assigned.

In his youth Tampus loved to roller and ice skate. However, Tampus’s passion was dancing he would come home wakening up his sister Gail, to show her his new dance steps to the music of Switch “I called your name girl”. Tampus was a diehard fan of all Cleveland Sports Team, Baseball, Football, and Basketball. He displayed his enthusiasm for all teams by wearing team clothing at the games and even at home while watching them play via the TV.

He leaves to cherish his memories, loving sisters Gail T. King, Tuesday E. Norman (Richard), nephews, Eric V. King jr., Randy Guinyard, nieces DeAnna L. Maple, Patience R. Johnson, great nephew, Mario Hall, great nieces, Autumn Hall and Summer Hall, a special friend Carolyn Kundrat and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
