Isiah Johnson departed this life on Wednesday December 28, 2022. He was born November 26, 1933 in Monroe County, Mississippi to the union of Isiah and Maggie Sue Johnson. Isiah soon met and married Juanita Webb in June of 1955. To this union two children were born, Bettie and Isiah III. The family then relocated to St. Louis, Illinois where they stayed a short period of time. His brother-in-law John Webb sent word that he was moving his family to Ohio and invited them to join him. Shortly after their arrival, Isiah and Juanita joined Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Painesville, Ohio.
Isiah worked various jobs until he was hired at The Ohio Rubber Company where he worked 30 plus years and was a mentor to some of the young workers there.
“Frog” or Jr. , as he was called by family and friends, was a great family man and wonderful husband and caregiver for his wife Juanita. He was a good friend to everyone both young and old. He also was a phenomenal cook! He made the BEST dressing in the world and was a pit master on the grill. His other hobbies included gardening with fellow gardeners Eural Wilson and Countee Boykin. He shared his bounty with anyone who asked. His absolute favorite hobby was fishing. He could fish all day, every day, if you’d let him and in some instances,
HE DID! He found pleasure in teaching his sons and grandchildren how to fish, and going out on the boat with good friends Melvin, Jr. and Russ.
Isiah leaves to cherish his memories; Wife Juanita, children Lynda Moore, Rose Wilson, Brenda Qadir (Ty), Eddie Johnson, Leon Johnson, his sisters Else Dilliard, Brizell Harmon, and Deborah Bell and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, Regina, Robert Johnson (Debbie), Calvin Johnson, Ina Coleman and God daughter Rochelle Wooten. Special family members, Melvin Stokely, Tony Jefferies and Edward Turner.
Isiah was proceeded in death by his parents, daughters, Lois Lawrence, Bettie Johnson, and son Isiah Johnson III, grandson Neil Lawrence Jr., sisters Luner “Maureen” Wilson, Delora Holman, brothers LeRoy Bell, Robert Johnson, and George W. Bell Jr.
