God in his omniscient wisdom called his son, Jack French, home on June 20, 2023. Jack aka “French” was the son of the late Leonard and Rosie French was born October 27, 1945, in Lynch, Kentucky. He completed his high school education at Lynch High school and relocated to Cleveland, Ohio in 1967. Jack was preceded in death by his only sister, Dorothy, his oldest brother, Jimmy, and brothers-in-law John & Leslie Lampkins.
Upon relocating to Cleveland, Jack held numerous jobs, one being an orderly at Forest City Hospital, where he met his wife to be Althea Marie Lampkins in 1967. Jack and Althea were married in1969 at Mt Gillion Baptist Church.
Before they were married, Jack began working at the Ford Motor Company in Brookpark, OH as a foundry worker and became a foreman. Jack worked for the automotive company for over 35 years and retired in 2006.
In 2010, Jack became a member of the First Assemblies of God Church, Lyndhurst, OH, where he became a member of the Usher Board, Men’s ministry, and the Security team.
Jack enjoyed life. He loved to listen to music, R&B oldies, work in his yard, watch Westerns on TV, and sports; especially baseball, which he played as a child and young adult. One of French’s favorite things to do was watch his grandchildren play on the sports teams they were apart of; he never missed a game. He would stand on the sideline and cheer them on and, at times, assist in coaching his granddaughters’ softball team.
Jack leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 54 years, Althea Marie French; children Jack Leon French (Dayna) and Nicole Marie French. Grandchildren Arianna Nicole Taylor, Jaxon, and Nia Carlyn French; brother, Nick (Nate) of Cleveland, Oh and Willie (Jackie) of Lexington, KY; brothers-in-law, Calvin (Deborah), Scott (Jennifer), Bobby (Robin), Christopher (Julia) of Martinsville, VA, and Larry Lampkins; sisters-in-law, Molly Ann and Precious Lampkins of Martinsville, VA and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.
