On October 29, 1932, Louise Scruggs Ragin and Nathaniel Ragin welcomed baby Jack Louis Ragin into the world. Jack loved to learn new things and graduated from Cleveland Trade High School where he developed his auto mechanic skills. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1953. Before shipping off to Germany he married his sweetheart Jeanie Holmes. Jack and Jeanie had two children, Jacquelyn and Lamont (deceased). In 1988 Jack and Pat McClendon welcomed into the world Rayshawn Lamar Ragin.
After being honorably discharged from military service, Jack worked for Chatman Motors, managed the band S.O.U.L and later started his own delivery service JLR Express. In his later years he became a landlord and rehabbed multiple dwellings. It was rumored Jack could fix just about anything. He was an avid fisherman, wrote poetry and enjoyed grilling and sports. Jack was a member of Fellowship Church of God, Bedford Hts. where he shared his poetry when requested. Jack loved discussing the bible and verbal jousting with people he felt were worthy opponents.
Despite being legally blind and his advanced age Jack took frequent walks in his neighborhood and took on repair projects when his expertise was requested. He was a people person and loved to network. Mr. Ragin was an excellent teacher and mentor and taught his family members and friends auto maintenance, cooking, painting, plumbing and how to operate power tools.
Jack departed this world on February 4th 2026 at the Cleveland Veterans Medical Center. He leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter Jacquelyn Ragin, son Rayshawn Ragin his sister Barbara Ragin Pillow (Willie) and sister in law Josylvona Ragin (Robert), his grandchildren Brittney Ragin Fells, Drema M.
