Jacqueline Armstrong, 70, died Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Cleveland Clinic South Point Hospital after a short illness. Jacqueline was known as Jackie, and for some, affectionately known as Sprat. Her grandchildren called her Bamma. Jacqueline was born on June 26, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio.
She grew up in Cleveland before moving to East Cleveland where she attended East Cleveland City Schools and became a member of the Shaw High School graduating class of 1973. Jackie was never married.
Ms. Jacqueline Armstrong began her career working at Greyhound’s Corporate office in downtown Cleveland until they moved their offices to Idaho. She then pursued a career in social services where she found her calling to help ensure the health and safety of the families she served. Jackie began her career in social services as an administrative assistant. While working as an administrative assistant, she attended Capital University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in social work. This opened doors for her to do what she had always desired to do. Jackie retired from Berea Children’s Home after working there for over 15 years. In addition to Jackie’s work in social services, she was a servant in her church. She led and directed the children’s choir for 8 years and she was always willing to assist with Vacation Bible School. Crafting was Jackie’s hobby. She would take crafting classes with her Mom before her Mom’s passing. Jackie loved her family. She loved it when family came together for social events. Jackie had one daughter whom she was extremely proud of, and her grandchildren meant the world to her.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Armstrong, father, Harold Armstrong, sister, Antionette Cook and brother, Eugene Cook.
Jackie is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Ja’Tina (Jones) and Thomas Threat of Willoughby, OH, two grandchildren, Jolante Jones and Lauren Threat, four brothers, Floyd (Janet) Jones, Lonell Jones, Larry Jones and Kwame Nyamekye and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Throughout Jackie’s life span, she acquired genuine friendships that were long lasting. To know her was to absolutely love her.
