Jacqueline Bland Brown our beautiful, caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many passed away February 19, 2022, after a long illness surrounded by her family. Jackie, as she was affectionately called, was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. Jackie attended the Akron Public Schools and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from The Ohio State University. Her teaching career led her to Robinson and Forest Hill Elementary Schools in the Akron Public School System where she was a teacher for over 35 years. In her early childhood years, she was an active member of Second Baptist Church and later moved her membership to The Arlington Church of God where she worshiped with her family.
Family time was extremely important to her, she enjoyed decorating her home and entertaining during the holidays. Jackie enjoyed participating with her children in Jack and Jill of America. Her sons fondly remember during their childhood years Jackie being their biggest sport fan and did the same for her grandsons never missing a sporting event! Her unwavering love and support will never leave us and always be in our hearts. Jackie enjoyed, gardening, traveling, exercising and she was also a huge Ohio State football fan.
Jackie was a life member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated ®. Initiated in 1957, she is being recognized this year as a PEARL Soror with 65 years of service. Jacqueline’s sorority was extra special to her as she loved serving locally and traveling throughout the region with her sorority sisters.
Preceded in death by husband, Robert L. Brown; parents, Dewey and Lillian Bland; sister, Betty Campbell; and brothers, Arthur and Robert Bland.
She leaves to cherish her memory sons, David (Shavella) of Copley, Ohio and Keith of Akron, Ohio; grandsons, Eliot and Troy Brown; great granddaughter, Mahlia Jacqueline Brown; sister, Gwendolyn Hall (Verdell) of Kennesaw, Ga.; and special cousin, Earnestine Hayes; as well as a host of nephews, nieces, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.
