Jacqueline “Jackie Bell” Clemons was born on August 18, 1952, in Talladega, Alabama. She was the first-born daughter to A.D. And Maude E. Bell. She was raised in a love filled home with her three siblings: Alfred, Carol Ann, and Edward Earl Bell in Mumford, Alabama.
Jacqueline attended Ophelia S. Hill School in Mumford, Alabama until moving to Ohio in 1967. She graduated from Akron North High School in 1970. She later completed a medical assistant certification at Akron Institute in the early 70s.
Jacqueline was a proud member of: North Hill Baptist, New Hope Baptist, and her final place of worship at Mount Calvary Baptist Church. During her previous church memberships, she was involved in the Choir, and the kitchen hospitality committees where she enjoyed being of great service. Jacqueline loved the Lord and would often say, “Lord I stretch My hands to thee for no other help I Know.”
Jacqueline was employed at O’Neil’s in Akron for several years until she began her career at Chrysler in 1977. She was a loyal member of the UAW Local 122 for many years until her retirement in 2007.
Jackie’s life was filled with love for her family. She enjoyed family gatherings, reunions, and outings. She had a great sense of humor, loved to travel and shop. She was a nurturer by nature which led her to be known as Mom, Mommy, or Auntie Jackie to many.
Jacqueline blessed this world with three children: Chanda, Detrick, and Eboni whom she leaves to celebrate her life and carry on her legacy. She was very proud of them, their accomplishments, and the families they have created.
She was preceded in death by her parents, A.D. and Maude Bell; and brother, Alfred Bell.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Chanda (Chris) Martin, Detrick Clemons and Eboni Clemons; children whom she loved like her own, Marcella Chapman, Duane (Demi) Clemons, Cathy Ann Evans, and Roberto Michael Evans; 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; siblings, Earl (Betty) Bell and Carol (Tony) Mims; sisters-in-law, Linda Bell, Carolyn Bell and Carmen Bell; best friend, Lola Coker; special daughter-in-law and caregiver, Latoyka Clemons; as well as a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, co-workers and lifelong friends.
