Jacqueline Theresa Feaster age 94, went home to be with the Lord on December 25, 2021.
Jacqueline was born July 25, 1927, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Worth Skillern and Annie Mae Johnson. Jacqueline was the oldest of three and she is preceded in death by her brothers Floyd and Worth Skillern Jr. She also had another sister born to Worth Sr. Rena Edwards of Dallas, Texas. “Jackie” as she was called by most, graduated from Central High School. One of the things she enjoyed in school was singing in the choir. Jackie and the Skillern Family attended Messiah Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio where she also sang in the church choir. She married her true love Albert Feaster on December 29, 1956. They raised one child, VeraEllen “Pete/Peachie.”
Jackie enjoyed working as a Kitchen Assistant in what was called the Tea Room at Halle Brothers Department store in Cleveland, Ohio. She moved from that department to the Assistant Buyer in the Jr. Deb Shop. She loved working in the clothing area. She later retired from Joseph and Feiss men’s clothing store now Hugo Boss. When she was not working, Jackie loved sewing. She made many lovely outfits for her daughter changing the patterns to what she wanted. Jackie loved family gatherings, music and her popular pass times of cigarettes and beer. We would dare not forget to mention Chrystal Palace.
Jackie only drove one day in her life, but the day she attempted to move their car the tree jumped behind her. Needless to say, the bent trunk and side door took the brunt of it all due to her lack of experience. All Al could do would shake his head. The neighbors watched in amazement, some questioned how that tree got in her way.
Jackie loved her grandkids Kelynda “Kelli”, Ebony, and Kamar. She took great pleasure teaching them how to crochet, especially since she was left-handed. Other things they enjoyed with Grandma Jackie was playing card games, braiding hair, and jacks. She was an avid reader and took great pleasure in starting a book and finishing in 2-3 days. Al preceded death in 1992. She will be remembered with many stories and adventures. Jackie is the last of the Skillern era. She leads in death a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and God children. She will always be fondly remembered for her strong willingness and positive attitude. Feisty till the end.
