James D. Noel, Sr. was born with music in his heart October 14, 1972 in Madisonville, Kentucky. The music stopped on June 26, 2019.
The Noel family moved to Akron when he was 10 years old and he attended Akron Public Schools, graduating from North High School.
When James was 10, his father brought him his first saxophone from a pawn shop, he took lessons and this is where his love for music and jazz began.
James played the sax so well that Count Basie invited him on the road after hearing him play in Cleveland, but the then-father of two declined. Later in life he started playing the saxophone for The House of the Lord church.
Before his passing, James celebrated the lives of his parents, Henry and Elizabeth Noel; sisters, Louise Mobley, Stella Jones, Vera Parker and son, Ronald Lee Noel.
James leaves to celebrate his life and music through his daughter; Brenda (Reginald Sr.) Connelly; son, James D. “Sonny” Noel, Jr., and sister, Sandra Long; grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends, relatives and fans far and near.
